Techniques of the Selling Writer by Dwight V. Swain
Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell
Character, Emotion & Viewpoint by Nancy Kress
Dialog by Gloria Kempton
Setting & Description by Ron Rozelle
In my opinion, the latter four books are great companions for the first book listed. I found all of those books to be most enlightening. Now the next step is to actually write something. Since my educational background is in the sciences, you can probably guess how I am going to approach this endeavor. The next step for me is to brainstorm some plot ideas and then enter the planning and preparation phase. After I have a rough outline of a plot, I will get to work writing the first draft. These things take time, so if you are eager to read any of my work, you may be waiting a while. Hopefully the wait will be worth it.
Until next time ...

Two natures beat within my breast;
One is foul, one is blessed;
The one I love, the one I hate;
the one I feed will dominate.
